The Victron Energy CYR010230010 Cyrix-ct 12/24-230 is an intelligent battery combiner designed to automatically connect two 12V or 24V battery banks when charging voltage is present and disconnect them when voltage falls. With a 230A continuous current rating and 500A cranking rating for 5 seconds, it provides automatic battery-bank combining without the voltage loss associated with conventional diode isolators.
The Cyrix-ct uses intelligent voltage trend detection rather than switching solely at fixed voltage thresholds. It monitors whether battery voltage is increasing or decreasing and adjusts its switching behavior accordingly, helping prevent unwanted connection and disconnection during temporary voltage changes or high-current loads.
230A Continuous Current Capacity
Handles up to 230A continuously, with a 500A cranking rating for 5 seconds for compatible high-current battery systems.Β
Automatic 12V / 24V Detection
Automatically detects whether it is connected to a 12V or 24V electrical system, simplifying installation across compatible battery applications.
Intelligent Voltage Trend Detection
Monitors the general trend of battery voltage and uses variable switching delays instead of relying solely on fixed voltage thresholds, helping prevent unwanted relay switching.Β
Bidirectional Voltage Sensing
Monitors voltage on both connected batteries. The combiner can engage when charging voltage is detected from either battery side, supporting systems with multiple charging sources.Β
Virtually No Voltage Loss
Provides an alternative to diode battery isolators with virtually no voltage loss, avoiding the need to increase alternator or charger output voltage to compensate for isolator losses.Β
Starter Battery Prioritization
In a typical alternator-based installation, the starter battery charges first. When the Cyrix detects that the starter battery has reached the appropriate connect voltage, it engages to allow parallel charging of the additional battery bank.
Start Assist Function
The Cyrix can be manually engaged using a push button or switch to temporarily connect the battery banks in parallel. Once activated, it remains engaged for 30 seconds, which can assist when the starter battery is discharged or damaged.
Overtemperature Protection
Automatically disengages if excessive contact temperature is detected and reconnects after the unit has cooled down.Β
Integrated LED Status Indication
The 230A version includes LED indication for engaged, disengaged, connecting, disconnecting, and alarm conditions.Β
Starter & Auxiliary Battery Systems
Ideal for automatically combining a starter battery with an auxiliary or house battery bank when charging voltage becomes available.
Alternator Charging Systems
Allows an alternator connected to the starter battery to automatically provide parallel charging to a secondary battery once the appropriate voltage conditions are reached.
Marine Battery Systems
Suitable for compatible marine installations with starter, domestic, bow-thruster, or other battery banks requiring automatic charging coordination.
RV & Mobile Power Systems
Useful in RVs, campers, specialty vehicles, and mobile electrical systems that use separate starter and auxiliary battery banks.
Systems with Multiple Charging Sources
Bidirectional voltage sensing makes the Cyrix useful where either connected battery bank may receive charging from an alternator, battery charger, or another compatible charging source.
Emergency Battery Parallel Connection
The Start Assist input provides a manual method for temporarily paralleling the connected batteries when additional starting support is required.
