The Sol-Ark 18K can manage power from solar panels, the utility grid, a generator, and battery storage. The four Pytes V16 batteries provide a combined 64kWh of nominal energy storage for longer backup duration, increased energy reserves, and lower current demand per battery.

Solar panels, racking, optional Pytes ground-mounting brackets, AC and PV wiring, conduit, overcurrent protection, disconnects, battery busbars or combiner equipment and other site-specific installation materials are sold separately unless specifically stated.

Multiple-Battery Connection Requirement

The four V16 batteries must be connected in parallel through properly rated positive and negative busbars or an approved battery combiner before connecting to the inverter. The required combiner equipment, overcurrent protection and final inverter connection cables must be selected by the system designer and are not included unless specifically stated.

Important System-Output Note

This system provides up to 18kW of continuous AC output through the Sol-Ark inverter. Adding four batteries increases stored energy and potential backup runtime, but it does not increase the inverter's maximum AC output. A second inverter is only needed when the system design requires more than 18kW of continuous output or additional inverter capacity.

Professional Installation Required

This equipment should be designed, installed and commissioned by a qualified solar or electrical professional. The installer must confirm conductor sizing, overcurrent protection, disconnects, grounding, communication cabling, firmware compatibility, battery charge limits, permitting requirements and compliance with all applicable electrical and building codes.

Because this configuration uses four Pytes V16 batteries, the inverter's battery charge and discharge limits must be programmed according to the specifications of the four-battery bank and the final system design.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the Sol-Ark 18K and Pytes V16 compatible? +

Yes. Pytes documents closed-loop integration between the V16 and Sol-Ark 18K through compatible battery communication. The correct communication cable, firmware and inverter settings must be used during commissioning.

Can this system provide whole-home backup? +

The Sol-Ark 18K can provide up to 18kW of continuous AC output, which is enough to operate many household loads. The four batteries increase stored energy and potential backup duration, but they do not increase the inverter's 18kW output limit. Very large simultaneous loads may still require load management or support from solar or a generator.

Do four Pytes V16 batteries require two Sol-Ark inverters? +

No. One Sol-Ark 18K can be paired with the four-battery bank and will provide up to 18kW of continuous AC output. A second inverter is only needed when the system is designed for additional AC output capacity beyond 18kW or other project-specific requirements.

How long will the 64kWh battery bank run my home? +

Runtime depends on how much power the home is using. The 64kWh battery bank provides approximately four times the stored energy of the single-battery version and twice the stored energy of the two-battery version. Essential loads can operate much longer than central air conditioning, electric water heating, EV charging or other high-demand equipment. A professional load analysis is the best way to estimate backup duration.

Is the battery combiner or busbar equipment included? +

No, unless it is specifically shown as an included item. Pytes requires multiple V16 batteries to connect through properly rated positive and negative busbars or an approved battery combiner. The installer must select the appropriate equipment, overcurrent protection and cable sizes for the final design.

Can I add another Pytes V16 later? +

Yes. This kit begins with four batteries and can be expanded to as many as 16 Pytes V16 batteries. Any expansion should follow Pytes requirements for battery age, state of charge, firmware, cabling and overcurrent protection.

Can the system operate without solar panels? +

Yes. The system can be configured to charge the battery from the grid and provide backup power when the grid fails. Available operating modes may depend on local utility rules and installer programming.

Does the Sol-Ark 18K support a generator? +

Yes. The inverter includes a dedicated generator connection and generator-start capabilities. Generator compatibility, wiring and operating parameters must be verified by the installer.

Can the equipment be installed outdoors? +

The Pytes V16 has an IP66 enclosure rating, and the Sol-Ark 18K is rated IP65/NEMA 3R. Installation must still follow the manufacturers' clearance, temperature, mounting and environmental requirements.

Are solar panels included? +

No. This kit includes the Sol-Ark hybrid inverter, four Pytes batteries and the battery accessories listed above. Solar panels, racking and other balance-of-system components can be selected separately based on the installation.

What happens if my power requirements increase? +

The system can be expanded with additional Pytes V16 batteries, and the Sol-Ark 18K supports a large solar array. All expansion plans should be reviewed by a qualified system designer.
