The GoodWe GW6000-SBP-US20 SBP-US Series is a 6kW split-phase, high-voltage AC-coupled retrofit inverter designed for residential battery storage, backup power, and microgrid applications in North America. Its AC-coupled architecture makes it well-suited for adding battery storage and backup functionality to an existing solar installation without replacing the PV inverter.

The GW6000-SBP-US20 is designed as an AC-coupled retrofit solution for North American residential energy storage. The SBP-US Series supports off-grid applications and unbalanced load output without requiring an extra autotransformer. GoodWe also designed the platform for microgrid operation during blackouts, enabling a compatible PV system to continue generating energy to support load consumption while the utility grid is unavailable.
The GW6000-SBP-US20 provides 6,000VA nominal backup output at 120/240V with up to 25A output current. Maximum backup output with the grid can reach 12,000VA for 10 seconds when sufficient PV and battery power are available, while maximum output without the grid is 6,000VA. Maximum efficiency is 97.0%, with a CEC efficiency of 96.0%.
Microgrid Battery Note: Although the standard battery voltage range is 80–495V, GoodWe specifies that the maximum battery voltage is 450V for AC-coupled inverters in microgrid applications.
The GW6000-SBP-US20 incorporates residual current monitoring, battery reverse-polarity protection, anti-islanding protection, AC overcurrent protection, AC short-circuit protection, AC overvoltage protection, Type III AC surge protection, and battery arc-fault detection. Communication options include RS485 and CAN for the battery management system, RS485 for metering, and LAN, optional 4G, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi for portal connectivity.
The SBP-US Series supports an optional 9.6kW AC Level 2 EV charger with selectable maximum continuous output current of 16A, 24A, 32A, or 40A. Configuration and indication are handled through the app using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, while the charging interface uses SAE J1772. The 7.6-meter EV charger cable is ordered separately.
