SOLAR COOLING 18K Hybrid Solar Mini Split Kit with 1,775W Solar Array

Use the included solar array for daytime heating and cooling while the grid automatically supports the system when sunlight drops

Use code ECO10 at checkout for 10% off.

This kit combines an 18,000 BTU ductless heat pump with five Canadian Solar 355W panels. The panels connect to the mini split’s dedicated DC solar input, so a separate solar inverter, charge controller and battery are not required for solar-plus-grid operation.

In full sun, the solar array can supply available power directly to the mini split. When solar production falls below demand, the 208–240V AC connection can make up the difference. After sunset, the system operates from the grid unless a compatible 48V battery system and DC booster are added.

18,000 BTU Heating and cooling capacity
21.7 SEER2 High-efficiency performance
1,775W Included solar array
No Battery Needed For solar-plus-grid operation

The included panels power the mini split only. They do not provide electricity to other household loads or replace a whole-home solar system. SOLAR COOLING is the current name for the product line previously sold as ECOSOLARIS.

What Happens Throughout the Day?

Full Sun

The included array supplies available DC power directly to the mini split, reducing the amount of grid electricity needed.

Clouds and Changing Weather

When connected in hybrid mode, the AC supply supports the system as solar output changes so you do not have to switch power sources manually.

Night or Low Solar

The mini split runs from 208–240V grid power. Battery operation is optional and requires compatible equipment sold separately.

Why This Solar Package Makes Sense

Matched 1,775W Solar Array

The five included panels place the system near the top of its recommended 1,300W to 1,800W solar-input range.

No Traditional Solar Inverter

The solar string connects to the outdoor unit’s dedicated DC input, avoiding the cost and conversion losses of a separate inverter for this load.

Works Without Solar

Connect the mini split to properly sized 208–240V AC service and use it like a conventional high-efficiency heat pump whenever solar is unavailable.

Battery Can Be Added Later

A compatible 48V battery system can support backup or off-grid operation when paired with the required DC booster and connection equipment.

Full DC Inverter Technology

Variable-speed operation adjusts output to the space instead of relying on repeated full-power starts and stops.

Built-In Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi controls provide convenient temperature and operating-mode access from a compatible mobile device.

Heating, Cooling and Solar Performance

Cooling Performance

18,000 BTU cooling capacity with a 21.70 SEER2 rating, 12.79 EER and variable cooling power consumption from 220W to 1,340W.

Heating Performance

18,000 BTU heating capacity with a 9.55 HSPF2 rating, 4.01 COP and variable heating power consumption from 220W to 1,320W.

Direct Solar Input

The recommended PV array range is 1,300W to 1,800W. Solar operating voltage is 80–350V DC with a 380V maximum PV open-circuit voltage.

Included Solar Array

Five Canadian Solar 355W modules provide 1,775W of rated DC capacity, placing this package near the top of the recommended solar range.

Installation Checklist

  • Professional HVAC installation is required for refrigerant-line evacuation, leak testing, electrical connections and commissioning.
  • The refrigerant line set and communication cable are not included and must be selected for the installation distance.
  • Plan a suitable location and mounting method for five full-size solar panels.
  • Direct solar input requires a properly designed series string within the mini split’s voltage and current limits. Do not connect panels based only on total wattage.
  • Battery operation requires a compatible 48V battery system, DC booster and required cables, all sold separately.
  • Room coverage estimates are only a starting point. Climate, insulation, ceiling height, windows and heat gain should be evaluated through a proper load calculation.
  • The five solar panels, indoor unit and outdoor unit may arrive in separate shipments.
  • Warranty coverage requires professional installation and compliance with manufacturer requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a complete installation kit?

No. The mini split, five solar panels, remote and drain hose are included. The refrigerant line set, communication cable, PV wiring, disconnect equipment, mounting hardware and installation labor must be supplied separately.

Can this mini split run without solar panels?

Yes. It can operate from properly sized 208–240V AC grid power like a conventional mini split. Solar can be connected now or added later.

Can it run directly from the included solar panels?

Yes. The included panels can be configured for direct solar input when the completed string remains within the mini split’s voltage and current limits. Final string design and wiring should be confirmed by a qualified installer.

Will the included panels power the rest of my home?

No. The solar panels connect to the mini split’s dedicated PV input and supply only this heating and cooling system. They are not a substitute for a whole-home solar array.

Will it keep running when clouds reduce solar production?

When the system is connected in hybrid solar-plus-grid mode, grid power can supplement changing solar production. Solar-only performance depends on the available sunlight and operating load.

Will it operate during a utility outage?

Direct-solar operation may be available while sufficient sunlight is present, but output will change with solar conditions. Reliable operation after sunset or during low-solar periods requires a compatible 48V battery system, DC booster and correct connection equipment.

Do I need batteries?

No. Batteries are optional. Battery operation requires a compatible 48V battery system, the correct DC booster and connection equipment, which are sold separately.

How much electricity will the solar panels save?

Savings depend on solar exposure, weather, thermostat settings, room load, local utility rates and how often the system runs during daylight. The array is designed to reduce daytime grid consumption, but a fixed bill-savings percentage cannot be guaranteed.

Does this system provide both heating and cooling?

Yes. It is a heat-pump mini split with 18,000 BTU rated cooling and heating capacity.

What size space can an 18,000 BTU system serve?

A general estimate is approximately 750–1,200 square feet, but actual sizing depends on climate, insulation, windows, ceiling height, occupancy and other heat-gain factors. A load calculation is the best way to confirm sizing.

Are the refrigerant line set and communication cable included?

No. Both are sold separately so the correct lengths can be selected for the installation.

Can I install this myself?

Professional installation is required for warranty coverage and proper commissioning. Refrigerant handling, electrical work, solar-string design and code requirements should be completed by qualified professionals.

Do all components arrive together?

The mini split equipment and solar panels may ship in separate cartons or separate shipments. Tracking may be provided separately as each portion leaves the warehouse.
